Yesterday, we launched Shhmooze at Bizcamp Belfast - a user generated conference attended by 400 business people from across Ireland. Bizcamp Belfast kicked off on a very chilly morning in the gorgeous Ulster Museum, which had closed for the day to squeeze 400 business brains in through its doors.
At 9.30am various spaces filled with people and presenters, ready to share their knowledge and expertise. I spoke in the first session about LBS, WTF? and WIIFM?
Location-based services are hot, but too many of them leave us thinking WTF? I strongly believe that the LBSs that will survive the current bubble will be those that can answer the WIIFM question – What’s In It For Me? Badges and digital points are not going to cut it long-term. An LBS has to give more.
At bizcamp, delegates are encouraged to break out of talks to have their own discussions, to connect and engage with each other. And we’re really excited that Shhmooze helped make that easier and more productive for delegates!
Throughout the day people crowded over to our stand to check out Shhmooze and we recruited loads of new Shhmoozers. They used Shhmooze to check into Bizcamp so they could check out who was there. New connections were made and new friendships formed. And that’s what we’re all about!
Carley Morrow, Director of Spiderhouse PR emailed us after our launch to say “I used Shhmooze at Belfast Bizcamp…met 2 excellent contacts using it. Without doubt it’ll be top of my list for future events.”
Have you used Shhmooze at your event? Let us know – we’d love to hear from more Shhmoozers!

yes – it’s a great app & highly recommended
We also used it at the Business Startup Conference in Earls Court, London where there was not quite so much usage; however there was much less use of Twitter than expected too.
People know the importance of networking (speed-networking was full!) and your application has so much much potential to massively assist the process. We need to help the non-techno heads and make them aware of its existence & ease of use – imagine the networking possibilities?!!
Good luck to you – I’m a fan & I’ll spread the word!
